Rotary tables are used to orientate items so that they can be machined, worked on, or assembled. Products range from manually driven tables to CNC-controlled and driven tables. Specifications important to consider when looking for rotary tables include worktable diameter, thru hole diameter, maximum axial load, maximum radial load, table rotation speed and minimum indexing increment. The worktable diameter is the diameter of the tabletop. The thru hole diameter is the diameter of the hole in the center of the table. The maximum axial load is the maximum load the table can support when the load is axially applied on the table, pushing against the face of the tabletop. The maximum radial load is the maximum load the table can support when the load is radially applied on the rotation of the table. The table rotation speed is the maximum speed at which the table is designed to rotate. The minimum indexing increment is the minimum degree the table may be indexed. Applications common to rotary tables include machining, equipment positioning, automation, inspection, and assembly. Features common to rotary tables include 4-axis motion, 5-axis motion, brakes, collet spindles, position encoders, CNC controlled, tilting table, indexing, T-slots in the faceplate, and multiple spindles. The drive mechanism for rotary tables can be manual, electric, pneumatic, hydraulic, or no drive, the table is loosened and manually turned by hand. A crank turns manual drive tables. The drive location can be behind or below the table, top mounted, or side mounted. Top mounted drives are located above the table surface when the table is mounted horizontally. Side mounted drives are located to one side of the table surface when the table is mounted horizontally. Mounting capability for rotary tables can be horizontal, vertical, and inverted. Horizontal mounting allows the table to be mounted so the table surface is upright in the horizontal position. Vertical mounting has the table mounted so the table surface is vertical. With inverted mounting the table can be mounted so the table is upside down in the horizontal position.
